The Keweenaw Traveler has been a principal source of information for people planning a visit to the Keweenaw Peninsula and the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan for 20 years. We produce our magazine style visitor guide for the people traveling to the Keweenaw. Our publication hits the streets at the height of tourist season; June thru October and January thru February. We distribute in the heavy trafficked MDOT information centers throughout Michigan and along our Wisconsin border. We also ship to population centers such as Duluth, Green Bay, and Ashland Wisconsin.
In order to broaden the reach of the Traveler and promote the Keweenaw in more places around the world we are quickly developing our website. The website serves as a resource for visitors to access when planning their next trip, as well as an introduction to the area for those who are unaware of the Keweenaw's rich attributes. We believe this approach of meeting visitors where they are, at home dreaming about and on their way to the Keweenaw, is the most effective way to reach visitors with up to date information about our enchanted land, intriguing history and unique culture.
As long time Keweenaw residents we wish to promote visitation, because of its economic importance, but we are also very committed to protecting our wild and beautiful country by informing the reader of good sustainable principles of "Tread Lightly", low impact use, "Leave No Trace" ethics as we enjoy this special place. As we describe a special trail along Lake Superior or encourage you to visit a local restaurant, unique gift shop or quaint B&B, we both contribute to the sustainable health of our Keweenaw.
